This is a short, plain policy because the actual practice is short and plain. Autotonomous collects very little, and what we do collect, we use for exactly one purpose: running this site and staying in touch with people who ask us to.

What We Collect

If you submit your email through the subscribe form on this site, that address is collected and stored by Formspree, the third party form service we use to process submissions. We do not run our own database of subscriber emails.

We also collect basic, anonymous technical analytics: things like which pages were viewed and which page referred you here. This data is not tied to your name or email address and is not used to build a profile of you.

How We Use It

Your email, if you give it to us, is used to send you new field notes from Autotonomous when we publish one. Anonymous page view data is used only to understand which field notes are worth writing more of.

What We Don't Do

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information to anyone, for any reason. We do not run advertising trackers or third party marketing pixels on this site. Formspree is the only outside processor involved, and only for the subscribe form.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes in any meaningful way, we'll update this page and adjust the date above. We won't quietly narrow your rights or widen what we collect without saying so here first.
